GHC Welcomes New President and CEO

August 19, 2021

To my fellow members of the Global Health Council community:

As Chair of the Global Health Council Board of Directors, I’m so pleased to share details about a new chapter for the Global Health Council, to be led by our new President and Chief Executive Officer, Elisha Dunn-Georgiou.

Elisha embodies GHC’s mission: she is a lifelong advocate with a passion for improving the health and well-being of vulnerable populations in the U.S. and globally. She has spent more than 20 years advancing political will and increasing resources for policies and programs to improve the health of communities worldwide.

As an executive leader, Elisha has a demonstrated track record in strategic planning, program design, advocacy, and new business development. She has strong organizational and financial management acumen, with experience building empowered, goal-oriented, and cohesive organizational and program teams for global impact in public health policy and international development.

Elisha will commence her role at the Global Health Council on September 13th.

I am immensely grateful for the work of our search committee over the past four months, led by fellow Board member Amy Boldosser-Boesch. The search, managed by SRI Executive, included a rich and diverse set of candidates.  On behalf of the search committee, I would like to extend my deepest appreciation to the other candidates who expressed interest in the role.

All of us on the Board of Directors are looking forward to working with Elisha in her new role. And I know Elisha is thrilled for the opportunity to work together with you — the GHC community — to advance our collective aspiration of health equity for all.

“I am honored to join GHC as President and CEO.  Having been a member of GHC for the past 15 years, I have been consistently impressed with the organization’s mission, dedication, and results to advance an equitable global health agenda.  The past several years have shown us how important civil society is for safeguarding the needs of the most vulnerable while championing transformation and systems change. GHC has the power over the coming years to champion an equitable and rapid end to this pandemic while supporting the advancement of more equitable and resilient health systems. I look forward to working with the GHC community to drive the next chapter together,” says Elisha Dunn-Georgiou.

Before closing, on behalf of our extended GHC community, I would like to express our collective gratitude to our Interim President and Executive Director and fellow GHC Board Member, John Ariale for his remarkable stewardship during our search for a permanent President and CEO. His deep expertise in how Washington works, principled focus on our mission, and management experience were a true asset over the past five months.

“The past few months have afforded me a unique opportunity to work with our GHC team from a different perspective and it allowed me to gain a better understanding of the type of leader GHC needs to walk alongside our team, members, and partners.  Elisha understands the organization and our mission has the background to lead our team and truly understands the crucial role that GHC has played and will continue to play during this unprecedented time in global health. I look forward to working with her and the entire GHC community as we begin a new chapter with Elisha’s steady and seasoned hand guiding our collective efforts,” said John Ariale.

We will be in touch in the weeks to come with opportunities to get to know Elisha better.

In solidarity,

Kate Dodson
