Regional Immunization: Launch and dissemination of findings of immunization Financing in 10 African Countries

April 30 @ 9:00 am - 10:30 am

Background: As we mark 50 years of the Expanded Program on Immunization, we are reminded that immunization is not just a healthcare service; it’s a lifesaving intervention that strengthens communities and contributes to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals. While Africa has made significant strides in immunization coverage, the COVID-19 pandemic has disrupted service delivery, leading to an increase in under-immunized and zero-dose children.

Why this campaign: The VacciNations Campaign is led by WACI Health and PATH in collaboration with civil society partners in Gavi implementing countries, donor countries, and those in various Gavi decision-making spaces.

Objectives of the campaign:

  1. Advocate for increased funding commitment through enhanced domestic resource mobilization for sustainable immunization financing and the Gavi replenishment.
  2. Hold regional stakeholders accountable for immunization commitments and implementing equitable and effective policies.
  3. Provide tools, evidence, and resources to civil society organizations (CSOs) in Gavi implementing countries to effectively advocate for equitable immunization policies and programs.
  4. Facilitate knowledge sharing and peer-to-peer learning among CSOs to strengthen capacity in driving immunization advocacy agenda at the regional level.
As we launch the VacciNations Campaign, it is a pivotal moment where PATH and WACI Health will disseminate the findings from a recent study on financing for immunization in Africa.

Registration is required to join us on 30th April. For additional details, please reach out to Esther Nasikye – enasikye@path.org and Joyce Ng’ang’a – joyce@wacihealth.org.

Thank you for your commitment to advancing health outcomes in Africa. Together, we can ensure that every individual receives the full benefits of immunization.
