| The 77th UN General Assembly comes at a pivotal time. The COVID-19 pandemic has reversed decades of progress, and humanity is now facing an overwhelming combination of crises that both intersect with and are compounded by the ongoing pandemic. And yet, political leadership to end the crisis phase of the pandemic and bring a coherent approach to reforms to the global system for pandemic preparedness and response is waning.
Pandemic preparedness and response must be on the agenda at UNGA77 and not only as a health issue but a fundamental priority for the world’s leaders. This convening will bring together stakeholders from government, multilateral organizations, academia, private sector, and civil society to collectively elevate key pandemic preparedness and response priorities, including sustainable financing and political leadership.
