Living the Global Water Crisis

March 22, 2024

RSVP

As populations around the world grapple with water security challenges that threaten lives, livelihoods, and political stability, this year’s World Water Day seeks to highlight the ways in which water can be a resource that not only gives life but also generates peace. Now more than ever, efforts to bolster prosperity and avert crises require high-quality data that inform strategies to provide adequate quantities of stable and safe water to all. The Water Insecurity Experiences (WISE) Scales are innovative tools—used by researchers and decisionmakers alike—that enhance the ability to measure the lived experience of water insecurity and translate that understanding into development action and policy implementation. Nationally representative data from 40 low-, middle-, and high-income countries will be made public for the first time.

Please join the CSIS Global Food and Water Security Program on Friday, March 22 at 12:00PM EDT to discuss the themes of this year’s World Water Day and the tools that researchers and decisionmakers are using to bring human voices to the growing risks to global water security. CSIS is pleased to welcome Dr. Sera L. Young from Northwestern University for an in-depth conversation about measuring and addressing water security, and her forthcoming Impact Report, Measuring Human Experiences to Advance Safe Water for All.

This event is made possible through the CSIS Project on Water Security.
