Following the first United Nations High-Level Meeting (UNHLM) on Universal Health Coverage in 2019, Heads of State and Government will meet for a second time in September 2023 to discuss universal health coverage (UHC). This meeting will provide an opportunity to advance policy development and implementation, enabling progressive achievement of UHC by ensuring equity in countries’ UHC health benefits packages across the three pillars of UHC, that is finance, quality service, and population coverage. This event on the sidelines of the 76th World Health Assembly will convene governments and global thought leaders to share recommendations and best practice examples and of how governments are investing in and accelerating action on the prevention and control of NCDs to support attainment of UHC and engaging people living with NCDs to keep UHC people-centered. These discussions will be vital for the progressive realisation of UHC and to maximise the opportunity of the upcoming 2023 United Nations High-Level Meeting on UHC and ensure the Sustainable Development Goal 3.8 is achieved by 2030.
