Demanding Better Health: Accelerating Public Health Security through Sustainable and Community Led Solutions

In just a few decades, climate change has emerged at the biggest health threat to humanity. As countries lag in their commitments to the Paris Agreement, which underscores the right to health through climate action, millions of people around the world are already feeling the impacts of climate-related crises including disease outbreaks, food shortages, droughts, extreme heat and flooding.
Against this backdrop Amref Health Africa will on Wednesday, September 21, host a panel discussion on the side-lines of the 77th session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA 77), titled: Climate Resilient and Just Health Systems in Africa.
The session will explore the cross-cutting themes of climate change and planetary health architecture, with the aim of building a methodology of attaining resilient and just health systems for Africa and beyond. It will also drive momentum towards the mainstreaming of health in climate change action in the run up to the 2022 United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP27) in November.
RSVP: To join the discussion or seek additional information, please contact Maggie Rarieya (Maggie.Rarieya@amref.org).
