Accelerating Progress in Reaching Global Immunization Goals Report, 2023
October 3, 2023

The latest immunization data from the World Health Organization (WHO) and UNICEF show that vaccination coverage levels have begun to recover since the decreases seen during the acute phase of the pandemic, but progress has been slow and uneven. At least 14 million children worldwide missed all three doses of diphtheria-tetanus-pertussis vaccine in 2022, and many countries are still struggling to deliver the first dose of measles vaccine. Ensuring there is a health workforce prepared to deliver vaccines and communicate effectively with parents and families about the importance of immunizations can help close gaps in coverage and spur progress in meeting global immunization goals.
Please join the CSIS Global Health Policy Center for a discussion regarding opportunities to improve immunization programs through activities focused on health workforce recruitment, training, retention and professional development, including pre-service training and mentorship initiatives to prepare managers for leadership positions. Katherine E. Bliss, Senior Fellow and Director of Immunizations and Health Systems Resilience at the CSIS Global Health Policy Center, will be joined by Anuradha Gupta, President of Global Immunization at the Sabin Vaccine Institute, Folake Olayinka, Immunization Technical Lead at USAID, and Lora Shimp, Director of the Immunization Center at JSI.
This event is made possible by the generous support of the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation.
