Non-communicable diseases (NCDS), including cardiovascular diseases, diabetes, cancer, and chronic respiratory diseases, are the leading cause of death and disability worldwide, disproportionately affecting low- and middle-income countries (LMICS). The burden of NCDs exacerbates health inequities, strains health systems, and impedes economic development. Integrating NCD prevention and care into Universal Health Coverage (UHC) is critical to ensuring equitable access to quality health services while maximising investment returns through cost-effective interventions.

Gender disparities further compound NCD challenges, as women and men experience differences in risk factors, access to care, and health outcomes. Addressing gender inequalities in NCD prevention and management is essential for achieving equitable health outcomes and optimising health system efficiency.
This high-level event hosted by the NCD Alliance EMR ( EM-NCDA) and the Global NCD Alliance (NCDA) in collaboration with UHC2030 and the Civil Society Engagement Mechanism (CSEM for UHC2030)will bring together policy makers, NCD advocates, UHC health experts, civil society, and other relevant stakeholders to drive collective action.
The event will highlight the importance of integrating NCD prevention and care into UHC as a strategic approach to achieving health equity, investment return, economic sustainability, and gender equality, addressing health system resilience and disparities.

2. Objectives
● Highlight practical approaches to integrating NCDS into UHC packages to ensure fair access for all populations, including those in conflict zones.
● Advance gender-sensitive NCD policies and initiatives to address differences in risk factors, healthcare access, and health outcomes.
● Encourage partnerships among various sectors and partners to prioritise cost-effective interventions and address NCD packages, including prevention and screening interventions.
● Provide practical recommendations for improving policies, ensuring equitable healthcare access, and building more resilient health systems.
