SUMMARY:Social Participation Works: Engaging those left behind to drive UHC
DESCRIPTION:Organized by Civil Society Engagement Mechanism for UHC2030\, Communities at the Heart of UHC\, Global Health Council\, International Federation of the Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies\, NCD Alliance\, Save the Children\, UNAIDS \nSocial Participation Works: Engaging those left behind to drive UHC\nMay 20\, 2021\nRSVP\nEngaging communities and leaving no-one behind is central to achieving the transformative promises of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development\, including the achievement of Universal Health Coverage (UHC). However\, governments and global health institutions have failed to meaningfully engage diverse communities in the UHC processes\, and any attempts to date have been slow and inconsistent. \nAs part of the second edition of the State of UHC Commitment report 2021\, the Civil Society Engagement Mechanism for UHC2030 (CSEM) is working with a range of civil society organizations and community groups to coordinate country level conversations with diverse populations\, including those currently being left behind in UHC decision-making. This “Engaging those left behind to drive UHC” event will enable these conversations to continue at the global level\, and engage pivotal global UHC stakeholders to advocate for the rights of those left behind to be able to participate in health governance processes at the national and global levels. The event will also be an opportunity to amplify the importance of social participation within health governance processes at both the national and global levels. \nAre you hosting an event soon? Share your event with us by emailing events@globalhealth.org. And\, stay up-to-date with the news from the global health community by signing up for our monthly newsletter.
