Securing the Future: How humanitarian and development finance can foster peace and drive resilience in Africa
September 25 @ 6:30 pm - 9:00 pm
Join us in New York or online for this high-level event that will shine a spotlight on solutions that have enabled peace, security, and resilience in Africa during the past decade. This event will focus on the 17th replenishment of the African Development Fund, or ADF, and its role in addressing fragility and building resilience while integrating the strategic priorities of the Global Compact on Refugees, or GCR, on protection and solutions for displaced populations and partnerships to address forced displacement in Africa.
Since 2001, through the African Development Fund, the Bank has been at the forefront of advancing the fragility agenda in Africa. The bank emerged as one of the pioneering multilateral institutions to embed the concept of fragility and resilience into its operations, processes, and instruments. This 23-year commitment has been underpinned by three successive strategic frameworks (including the 2022-2026 strategy) which have enhanced the bank’s capacity to engage in fragile contexts by introducing new practices, tools, and fit-for-purpose instruments.
The event will highlight the critical importance of securing an ambitious replenishment target of $25 billion for ADF, particularly in the context of growing fragility, vulnerability, displacement and the need for enhanced resilience across the African continent.
