May 29 @ 7:00 am - 9:00 am
Join Africa-Europe Foundation (AEF), PAN, and Resilience Action Network Africa (RANA) for a special session on the sidelines of the World Health Assembly to better elevate and demonstrate the cost and return on investment of building climate and pandemic-resilient health systems. This panel event will be held on Wednesday, May 29 at 7:00-9:00am CET. Breakfast will be served. Speakers include:
- Nadia Calviño, President, European Investment Bank
- Gunilla Carlsson, Governing Board Chairperson, Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency
- Kate Kelland, Chief Scientific Writer, CEPI • Dr. Maria Neira, Department of Environment, Climate Change and Health Director, WHO
- And more!
The world is facing two existential and interlinked threats — climate change and pandemics — but there is little focus on the financing interventions and mechanisms that can make the most impact on the combination of these issues. This panel will discuss how to better elevate and demonstrate the cost and return on investment of building climate and pandemic-resilient health systems including:
- Which interventions can deliver significant co-benefits across pandemic prevention, health and climate change? What are the estimated costs and returns?
- What financing mechanisms can be leveraged and how do we ensure funding is directed to where it is needed most?
- How do we ensure we build on the potential of the COP28 Health Day, including implementing the guiding principles on financing health solutions?
Register today! Space is limited. Participants will receive location details (in-person in Geneva) in advance with their event confirmation.
