Replenish or Perish? The Way Forward for Global Health Partnerships

May 29 @ 1:00 pm - 2:30 pm

Status-quo, incremental change, or organisational big-bang? Ahead of a new round of replenishment for Gavi and the Global Fund, join us to discuss the politics, governance, and future role of global health partnerships.

Since their establishment nearly 25 years ago, major global health initiatives like Gavi and the Global Fund have established an impressive track record of generating the resources and political priority necessary for driving progress on neglected global health challenges. But global health initiatives have also fragmented global health efforts, challenged the WHO’s authority and have been accused of privileging donor and private-sector interests while evading accountability. How should these organisations adjust to remain fit for purpose? What role should the WHO, regional organisations and global health partnership play in a new global health governance architecture?
