Reinvigorating Global Commitments to Children Living with HIV

June 10, 2021

The past year has shown that the power and impact of the health and care workforce is immeasurable. It has also highlighted the struggles and risks that health and care workers face while trying to deliver quality care, often to the detriment of their own physical and mental wellbeing. A recent Amnesty International, Public Services International, and UNI Global Union report shows that a health worker dies from COVID-19 every 30 minutes. This is a tragedy that will haunt communities for generations and a call to action to make urgent and critical investments in the health and wellbeing of health and care workers.

The World Health Organization’s #ApplauseIsNotEnough rallying cry has brought the world’s attention to the fact that we have a moral and practical obligation to care for health and care workers who continue to make personal sacrifices to deliver the best care they can, often in challenging environments. But, if applause is not enough, what is enough?

Join us on the sidelines of the World Health Health Assembly to hear directly from health and care workers about:

  • How we can protect health worker rights, responsibilities, and decent work, including supporting the distinct needs of women in the workplace;
  • Specific resources governments and global leaders must invest in to support health and care workers;
  • Ways in which communities, advocates, and influencers together can make certain that health and care workers’ recommendations are heard and acted on by policymakers.

This event is brought to you by the Act for Health Workers campaign partners—Seed Global HealthFrontline Health Workers Coalitionthe G4 AllianceIntraHealth International, and Smile Train.
