Pandemics and the Black Diaspora: HIV and COVID-19

AIDS United and Friends of the Global Fight Against AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria will host an interactive virtual session during the Congressional Black Caucus (CBC) Annual Legislative Conference.

The event will explore the impact of racial inequities in the HIV/AIDS and COVID-19 pandemics and in the responses to these diseases.

It will include a dialogue highlighting:

  • The impacts of the history of racism and racial health disparities.
  • Examples of current programming that seeks to advance health equity and increase participation by communities of color in health programming.
  • Further actions needed to address racial justice in healthcare and the impacts of racial inequities in the response to HIV and COVID-19 in the U.S. and globally.
