Lessons from DREAMS and the Road Ahead for U.S. Policy

May 11, 2021

RSVP

On Tuesday, May 11, from 9:30 a.m. – 10:45 a.m. EDT, the CSIS Global Health Policy Center will host a virtual event to discuss lessons from PEPFAR’s DREAMS partnership and policy options to elevate global attention to the health and development of adolescent girls and young women. The discussion will be based on the findings of our major new report, “Five Years of DREAMS and What Lies Ahead: How to Address the Intersecting Crises of HIV, Gender Inequality, and Health Security.” DREAMS has been successful in reaching millions of adolescent girls and young women in 15 countries with a multisectoral package of services aimed at reducing new HIV incidence in this population. After five years and over $1 billion invested, this is an opportune moment to examine the key achievements, barriers, and ongoing challenges of DREAMS, especially in light of the new challenges of the Covid-19 pandemic.

Speakers will include: Janet Fleischman, Senior Associate, CSIS Global Health Policy Center; J. Stephen Morrison, Senior Vice President and Director, CSIS Global Health Policy Center; Ambassador Deborah Birx, former U.S. Global AIDS Coordinator; Cathy Ferrier, Head of Positive Action, ViiV Healthcare; Daniel Oluoch-Madiang, Senior Technical Advisor, AGYW, PATH Kenya; Misozi Siwela, Senior DREAMS Manager, Zambia Community HIV Prevention Project; and Grace Nachila, DREAMS Ambassador, Zambia.

This event is made possible with the generous support of ViiV Healthcare.
