Driving Action on Obesity and NCDs: Taking the Right(s) Approach

May 20 @ 7:00 am - 9:30 am

As the global community prepares for the 2025 UN High-Level Meeting on NCDs, this event will bring the right conversations to the table. Attendees will leave with a clearer sense of why lived experience is not a checkbox, but a compass—and how rights-based approaches can deliver more equitable, sustainable, and effective action on obesity and NCDs in the lead-up to the HLM and beyond.

In a dialogue shaped by people living with obesity from across regions – jointly with WHO, governments, UNICEF, and experts – we will explore what it means to create rights-affirming environments—places where children are protected from harmful marketing, where stigma has no place in care, and where everyone has access to nutritious food and accurate information.

The discussion will reimagine environments that uphold rights and health across the life course—from schools to clinics to public policy. Then, moving to deliver a double dividend: how rights-based approaches to obesity can strengthen the broader response to NCDs and mental health, drawing from lessons in HIV, integration, and dignity-centred care.

Join us for this event about experience, equity, and change—just months ahead of the 2025 UN High-Level Meeting on NCDs.
