Dreaming with Girls – How Aspirations Shape Contraceptive Use

Thursday, April 25, 2019

12 PM – 1 PM EDT

For too long, adolescent programming has struggled to identify the right segmentation patterns that best resonate with girls while also failing to give them a voice in creating the solutions that best serve them.

That’s beginning to change.

Although marriage and childbearing bring differing needs and experiences, research is showing that there are still universal truths that cut across all segments within this age cohort, including their desire to dream for something better. We are increasingly working with adolescents and young women to program together, around what matters to them, today. Because as they’ve told us: contraception alone simply isn’t relevant. What sticks, however, are the tools that can bring them one step closer to achieving their life dreams.

What does it mean to really listen to young people to define those dreams?

And how can contraception be positioned as a tool to help girls achieve their dreams, particularly for first time parents?
