Disruptive Innovation in AMR: A collaborative approach to change

September 24 @ 4:30 pm - 6:30 pm

On behalf of Prof. Lord Ara Darzi, Chair of the Fleming Initiative and Co-Director of the Institute of Global Health at Imperial, and Prof. Dame Sally Davies, member of the UN Global Leaders Group on Antimicrobial Resistance, we are delighted to invite you to a high-profile UNGA event focused on disruptive innovation in AMR.

The 2024 UNGA meeting is looking to drive global change with respect to AMR and develop future plans on how to tackle this crisis. This high-profile Call to Action event will examine the new innovations available, including AI and Machine Learning, and how progress should be implemented to maximise sustained success in the battle against AMR.

The Fleming Initiative is a major global initiative of Imperial and Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust to protect global populations from the threat of antimicrobial resistance, by working to translate innovation into practice through scientific, public engagement, behavioural change and policy measures. At the heart of the Fleming Initiative will be the Fleming Centre, set to open at St Mary’s Hospital in 2028 to help to mark the centenary of the discovery of penicillin at the hospital by Sir Alexander Fleming. At the Centre, scientists will work alongside clinicians, patients, members of the public and policy makers to scope, test and scale solutions. The Fleming Centre will work closely with networks of centres in strategic locations around the world to catalyse worldwide action.

Other speakers:

The event will be opened by Prof. Hugh Brady, President of Imperial, and Prof. Tim Orchard, Chief Executive of Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust. It will bring together leading global health, technology, and policy experts.
