GHC will be holding a session entitled, The strategic intersection of untapped opportunity between academia and NGOs.

Background: The U.S. Government launched the Global Health Security Agenda in February 2014, bringing together over 40 countries to address global health security issues through a three-tiered approach of Prevent, Detect and Respond. The role of non-state actors, represented through academia and non-governmental organizations among others, is still being defined. Join us to learn how academia and NGOs are contributing to shaping the agenda, and help us identify additional opportunities for cross-sector collaboration. The West Africa Ebola crisis will serve as an applied setting for this discussion.

Professor Lawrence Gostin: Faculty Director, O’Neill Institute for National & Global Health Law; Director, World Health Organization Collaborating Center on Public Health Law & Human Rights, University Professor, Founding Linda D. & Timothy J. O’Neill Professor of Global Health Law
Pape Gaye: President and CEO, IntraHealth International
