Catalyzing Global Collaboration to Strengthen Clinical Trials Systems

May 19 @ 2:00 pm4:00 pm

As emphasized by the World Health Organization and Member States in the WHA75.8 resolution, strengthening clinical trials systems is essential to improving the quality, relevance, and equity of global health research.

Despite bearing a significant share of the global disease burden, low- and middle-income countries (LMICs) host only a small fraction of clinical trials. Africa, for example, accounts for just 3% worldwide, resulting in critical evidence gaps and limiting the effectiveness of health interventions for the populations most in need.

Against this backdrop, we are bringing together global health stakeholders to exchange evidence and practical solutions, strengthen partnerships, and mobilize coordinated action to accelerate systemic change in the global clinical trials ecosystem.

This event on the sidelines of the 79th World Health Assembly is hosted by the International Vaccine Institute (IVI) and the Pasteur Network.

Join health officials, policymakers, regulators, and researchers in a high-level dialogue aimed to drive progress by:

Highlighting progress, challenges, and best practices in the clinical trial landscape of LMICs
Advancing innovative approaches to strengthen regulation, governance, and clinical research infrastructure
Sharing country experiences and key lessons in building sustainable clinical trial systems
Exploring partnerships and financing to expand research capacity
Fostering alignment and collaboration among donors, governments, and research institutions
Let’s drive global action toward building equitable and sustainable clinical research capacity, ensuring that all populations are served and no country is left behind.
