Bread for the World’s 2019 Advocacy Summit
June 10 – 11, 2019
|When people of faith unite and raise our voices for better nutrition for a better tomorrow, hope is channeled into action. To paraphrase Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., the moral arc of the universe is bent a little more toward justice.
Attending Bread for the World’s 2019 Advocacy Summit in Washington, D.C., on June 10 and 11 is one powerful way you can help bend that arc this summer.
Last year, hundreds of Bread members met with their members of Congress and helped to pass the Global Food Security Reauthorization Act unanimously within only a few months. We will build from last year’s success to secure $250 million for global maternal and child nutrition funding.
We will also have the privilege to learn from a panel of experts before going to Capitol Hill:
- Emira Woods: Co-Director of Foreign Policy in Focus at the Institute for Policy Studies, and an expert on U.S. foreign policy with an emphasis on Africa and the developing world.
- Bishop Álvaro Leonel Ramazzini: Roman Catholic bishop of the Diocese of Huehuetenango in Guatemala.
- Vimlendra Sharan: Director of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) Liaison Office.
