Every year, more than one million children around the world die from a condition that is both treatable and preventable: acute malnutrition.
Generation Nutrition – a new global campaign composed of more than 30 civil society organisations – is calling on governments to put an end to this scandal. We believe that with sufficient political will this can be done within a generation.
Speakers during this important session will have an opportunity to discuss the different approaches that will be needed if this life-threatening condition is to be defeated once and for all. The panelists will draw on their experiences and expertise in a range of fields, including maternal and child health, breastfeeding, farmers’ rights and climate change – in an effort to answer the following, fundamental question: “How can we achieve a world free of child deaths from undernutrition?” The discussion would help to crystallise new ideas for joint campaigning on acute malnutrition.
The speakers’ presentations will be followed by a Q&A involving all participants
The session will be co-chaired by Action Against Hunger/ACF and International Medical Corps.
