2018 Symposium on Innovative Therapeutics for Cryptosporidium

The 2nd Symposium on Innovative Therapeutics for Cryptosporidium will be held at PATH, Seattle, Washington, on March 7, 2018. With only one drug approved for the treatment of this major cause of deadly and debilitating diarrheal disease, new therapies are urgently needed. Leading Cryptosporidium researchers will present on the current state of work in discovery, development, and commercialization of innovative treatments. The program includes a keynote address by Gagandeep Kang, Christian Medical College Vellore, winner of the 2016 Infosys Prize in life sciences for pioneering contributions to understanding the natural history of enteric infections in India and globally.
Presentation sessions will cover Enabling tools; Drug discovery; Burden and epidemiology; and Translational medicine, clinical development, and beyond. The day will close with the panel discussion “Cryptosporidium R&D: Opportunities, challenges, and where do we go from here?” featuring Karen L. Kotloff, University of Maryland School of Medicine; Ujjini H. Manjunatha, Novartis Institute for Tropical Diseases; Dale Robinson, Celgene Global Health; and Stephen Ward, Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation.
