Become a GHC Delegate at WHA

IMPORTANT: GHC defines its delegation as GHC members who wish to be credentialed to attend the WHA formal proceedings within the grounds of the Palais de Nations. If you do not need credentials [1] but wish to still partake in GHC’s welcome reception, access GHC’s WHA calendar, attend side events outside the grounds, and sign-up for GHC’s WHA information listserv, please see GHC Advocate.

In accordance with recent discussions with WHO concerning delegation characteristics, GHC will:

  1. Limit the number of individuals in its delegation in order to be in greater alignment with the general size of other delegations; and
  2. Work with members to ensure that the GHC delegation roughly reflects the member profile of the entire GHC membership base.

As a result, we will only allow two representatives per member organization. We will also set aside 15 spots for individual members (i.e. global health professionals and students without an institutional affiliation).

Please see below for GHC WHA delegate requirements, optional activities, and registration instructions.

The following contributions are expected of GHC WHA delegates:

  • Submit of at least one post for GHC’s blog, The Collective Voice, or other WHA-related social media support
  • Participate in GHC’s WHA webinar series to discuss important items on the agenda (starting in April 2017)
  • Attend GHC’s WHA delegate webinar prior to WHA (in early May)
  • Attend GHC’s Welcome Reception on Sunday, May 21
  • If possible, participate in GHC’s briefings during WHA

In addition, GHC WHA delegates will have the option to:

  1. Interested GHC members (organizations and individuals) must register to be part of GHC’s WHA delegation. Registration opens March 16, 2017 and will close by April 28, 2017, or until spots are filled. Registration will be carried out on a first come, first served basis until spots are filled.
  2. You can access the WHA delegation registration page through the online GHC member portal. Once logged into your account, use the drop down menu and select “Current Events” to access the registration page.
  3. Only current GHC members (those who have paid dues for 2017) can join the delegation. In the online portal you can check to see if your membership is active.
  4. Please submit only one registration form per organization.
  5. In order to offset the administrative burden associated with organizing the delegation, GHC has instituted a registration fee of $50 for each organizational representative and $25 for each individual representatives.
  6. Please note that GHC staff will review all entries to ensure that the conditions above are met. If the team has questions or concerns, they will contact you.

[1]Credentials can also be obtained by standing in line at the Palais des Nations on the day you wish to access the proceedings.
