A pediatrician and epidemiologist, she has more than 20 years experience in public health management, pediatrics and vaccinology, including 11 years at the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID)/National Institutes of Health (NIH). Health, Nutrition and Population director, Chris Lovelace, will become senior manager in the Central Asia Department of the World Bank.

JHPIEGO has announced the appointment of Leslie D. Mancuso, PhD, RN, as its chief executive officer. Dr. Mancuso comes to JHPIEGO from Project HOPE, where she served as chief operating officer. She has been recognized in the global arena for her groundbreaking work in neonatal and pediatric healthcare, and she has been actively involved in the development, dissemination and application of educational curricula and competency-based modules for training healthcare providers in neonatal, pediatric and critical care.

Two international public health experts have been tapped for leadership positions at the Program for Appropriate Technology in Health (PATH). They are Harriet Stanley, PhD, and Katherine A. Krasovec, ScD. Stanley has been appointed vice president for field site development, support and coordination. She will be responsible for the leadership and coordination of PATH's country programs and field offices. Krasovec will become the strategic program leader for the maternal and child health and nutrition program.

The Harvard School of Public Health has a new dean for Resource Development. In accepting the appointment, David Woodruff explained his approach to his position: "Philanthropy is not just a financial transaction. It is an emotional contract. People make decisions to be donors in a subjective way based on what inspires them. They want to give back as a way to further good work. That's the real incentive."

Meg Kinghorn has been named Impact Alliance director for Pact. This is a new initiative that aims to facilitate a global multi-sectoral alliance among leading-edge capacity building organizations. Kinghorn comes to Pact from Catholic Relief Services where she was the senior technical adviser for capacity building and civil society.

The Global Health Council's AIDSLink editor, Claudia Daileader, has assumed the position of writer/editor for Youth Net, a new five-year global program administered by Family Health International (FHI). The mission of Youth Net is to improve reproductive health and prevent the spread of HIV/AIDS among young people 10-24 years of age.
