The Role of Partnerships in the Implementation of the Post-2015 Development Agenda
8 April 2014 3:00 – 6:00 PM
ECOSOC Chamber, United Nations Headquarters, New York
The event will open with keynote statements by an ambassador from a developing country, an ambassador from a developed as well as a representative from the NGO community and representatives from the private sector and the UN Secretariat.
The second part of the event will include presentations from a panel of experts on the following two topics:
(a) Vaccines for all: Ensuring and extending the vaccine cold chain to the most vulnerable populations in remote parts of the world utilizing the mobile phone industry in the private sector, the Ministries of Health in the public sector and Energize the Chain in the NGO sector.
(b) Medicines for all: Accelerating the discovery and development of medicines that impact global health by addressing basic and translational research needs, regulatory mechanisms, affordable access, ethical marketing and equitable distribution, all of which cross public, private and NGO sectors.
It is our hope that the discussion will challenge delegations, civil society and United Nations staff to reflect on new and innovative ways to assist developing countries to meet their full potential in ensuring quality access to affordable medicines and healthcare, free from discrimination based on consideration of poverty and gender.
