The Road to Mexico : Accelerating Towards Elimination

October 11 - October 14

Organized by

October 11 – 14
Guadalajara, Mexico

This year’s Union World Conference, ‘Accelerating Toward Elimination,’ will focus on how to accelerate our efforts towards the elimination of lung diseases on multiple fronts, especially Tuberculosis (TB). We have a long way to go and only together we will succeed.

This year, and the next, there are some great political opportunities that we must capitalize on: the upcoming 2017 Global Ministerial Conference on TB in Moscow and the 2018 United Nations High-Level Meeting on TB in New York. These great opportunities, together with the unprecedented momentum towards ending the global TB crisis, that has recently emerged out of the commitments by the G20 Ministers of Health and Heads of States in Germany, and the BRICS Ministers of Health in July, are amazing milestones in the long road to end TB.

The Union World Conference is yet another milestone on this road in which the TB community can build on, through strong engagement and planning, to continue the drive towards ending TB, as well as access to all TB diagnosis, treatment and care, for all people sick or infected with TB.

As with every year, a list of events taking place in Guadalajara will be shared, starting with the ones we know the best – because we organize or fund them (totally or partially).

The Stop TB Partnership is kicking off the conference with a Mexican gala dinner on Monday 9 October, which will include the Second TB Awards ceremony, continuing on a similar format from the Liverpool event last year.

Please see the below initial list of events that are taking place in Guadalajara. Please note that this does not replace the official list of events as highlighted on The Union website.
